Photography can’t be a career choice from the start. Usually people start by taking it as a hobby and as a student, you will have other responsibilities like assignments and submitting essays etc.
You can always combine your photography life with your student life but it is not as easy as it seems. It is always amazing to show the world your perspective but every photographer needs to know a few things before they can become a good photographer.
Choose different angles-
Sometimes the subject might be boring but you should always try different angles as what one angle shows as boring the other angle might show something amazing. You never know what a great photo you could have taken if you tried a different angle.
This could take time learning especially when your subject is static. Try climbing up, laying on the ground or moving in different directions. Patience is key to clicking a great photo.
Try noticing the unnoticed. Try different orientations like vertical, tilted or horizontal. The viewers should try to identify your subject. Create a new character by the use of angles. Create a god like perspective. Create a story with your photos. As it makes the viewers dive deep into the photo.
Get good photo gear-
This might seem like I am putting pressure on a student to buy camera gear that might look like a waste of money but hear me out. You are a student and maybe you still do not have a job or you do not have enough money to buy the gear that you want. You can firstly start saving money. Trust me on this investing in an excellent gear will make your passion go even further. Shooting with a phone and a camera is so different. So save up and buy a good camera. Do not immediately buy lenses first buy the camera that you can easily handle and then buy only the lenses that you will mostly use. There is no need to waste money on a lens that you are going to use only once.
Understand the light-
Understanding the light is such an important concept to all photographers. If a photographer understands how light works then the photographer can create something out of the world. Learn to play with light. Wake up in the morning and catch the light of sunrise. Again see the light of sunset. Watch and learn how light works. The morning sunlight is soothing and cheerful while the sunset gives us a warm and loving effect.  Take advantage of the golden hour and catch the blue hour. Your subject will be warmer if you shoot in the golden hour and your subject will be grainy if you take photos on the blue hour. Try exploring different cityscapes as you will find out that cityscapes look amazing during the golden and blue hours.
Experience different genres of photography-
I would like to advise you not to get stuck on a single genre of photography. As that would only limit your creativity. There are so many genres of photography that you can never be out of ideas. From travel photography to macro photography or architecture ones, the world is your canvas just click whatever feels with you.  You will be able to find beauty in the world with every photo you take. Give others an opportunity to see the hidden beauty of the world that you see.
Find ways to show people your work-
There are a lot of unknown photographers in the world. You should create a profile and showcase your photography. It does not matter if it’s bad. You will definitely get better with practice. Get other people's perspectives on your photos to get some criticism and try to learn from that criticism. By showcasing your photos you are potentially growing an audience that will later become your customers if you take in a career as a photographer.
Don’t stop learning-
Photography is at a constant change. Not just photography any skill that you acquire is going to change at some point. So you need to keep on improving and keep learning. Learn new methods of photography, new techniques and how different environment affects your photos. These experiences can only be acquired by practicing and getting practical experience.
