How to Create Drop shadow using Photoshop?

Photoshop drop shadow is an additional tracing around the hard-edged objects with the pen tool to isolate it from the background. It is a method to create an artificial shadow that looks natural to the eye. Steps to create a drop shadow-

1. Open an image in Photoshop. Just go to the File menu on the top left corner and click open and select an image. Using a transparent image works best. Next, you need to use the magic wand tool and select the area where you want to create a shadow.

2. Click on the layer that contains the image to which you want to add a drop shadow. The layers should be in the “layers” window at the lower right corner of the screen.

3. Click on the layers menu bar. Create a duplicate layer in the dropdown. You can give your new layer a different title or you might mix up the layers. Click on the duplicated layer then click on “layer style”. It is the FX button at the layers window at the bottom.

4. You had already selected the area where you wanted to create drop shadow now with the fx click drop shadow option. Make proper adjustments on drop shadow. Change the opacity, angle which light cast, the distance of the shadow from the selected shape, the spread of gradient, the size of the shadow. After tweaking all this and when you are satisfied with your drop shadow to select ok.
There you have it that’s how you make a drop shadow in Photoshop.
